Maria Teresa (Tere) Alvarez Canida, CFA - President
Tere Alvarez Canida is President of Taplin, Canida & Habacht. In addition to overseeing the strategic direction of the company's activities, Ms. Alvarez Canida is a portfolio manager and is responsible for the development and implementation of all investment policy and strategy.
Prior to founding TCH, Ms. Alvarez Canida was Vice President/Senior Investment Officer for Southeast Banks Trust Company, N.A. She was responsible for the management of equity and balanced accounts for the employee benefit and personal trust division. She managed four collective trust funds, as well as supervised and managed all international investment account relations.
She received her B.S. from Georgetown University in 1975, and her M.B.A. from The George Washington University in 1976. She was awarded the Chartered Financial Analyst designation in 1983. (Charter#7508)
Ms. Alvarez Canida was inducted into the National Association of Securities Professionals (NASP) hall of fame in April of 2001 and currently serves on their Board of Directors. She also serves on the Board of Directors of the New America Alliance and is active in a number of community initiatives in South Florida.
